What makes the Springfield 576 unique: Today, we’re thrilled to showcase this stunning watch that was initially produced by the Illinois Watch Company — the Springfield 576. This antique watch boasts a pleasing cream-colored dial with dark-gold numerals and a stylish circular design that extends out from its “Illinois” inscription. You can also see the watch’s helpful black subdial and its blued-steel diamond kite watch hands. We ensconced this historic pocket watch within our Champagne Titanium case and topped it off with a gold-plated crown that complements the dial’s details. On the watch’s rear side, you can see its intricate 405-grade open-face movement with an “Aristocrat” engraving along its center bridge plate. The movement also features a Going barrel, nickel finish, pendant setting, and gold-plated gears with 17 eye-catching jewels. Finally, we made the piece wearable with our artisan-designed Rye leather watch strap, which looks especially stylish in proximity to our protective Champagne Titanium case.
The Illinois Watch Company originally manufactured the Springfield 576’s pocket watch in Springfield, Illinois, in 1921 — the same year that journalist Edward W. Scripps and zoologist William Emerson Ritter founded the non-profit organization Science Service, known today as the Society for Science. Scripps and Ritter formed the organization to keep the American public informed about the latest science news, and since its founding, the group has provided the nation with various science education programs and has kept the public abreast to scientific discoveries through its magazine Science News. The organization also publishes Science News Explores and sponsors notable national events for students, including the International Science and Engineering Fair, Broadcom MASTERS, and the Regeneron Science Talent Search.
